About Us

The Harris Disability Access Panel (HDAP) was established in 2002 by the Western Isles Council and the Western Isles Community Care Forum. The aim was to promote disability equality, the understanding of Disability and help improve access in the community of Harris and beyond. Our members have varying expertise and experience of disability and together, on an advisory level, consult with local public bodies, businesses, individuals and organisations on a wide range of access issues, such as access to the built and outdoor environment, transport services, employment and information.

If you provide a service to the public and would like to improve Access for service users with disabilities then please contact us for further information.

Also if you would like to make a difference in your community and can contribute your skills or experience to the panel's work, whether for a long or short term period then please get in touch.
